Which brand & model works best?

Belt openers last longer than chains (like a bicycle chain). LiftMaster remotes pair more easily. But they all work well.

Can you DIY?

We’re biased, but we do see damaged doors from DIY installs. An expert knows if you even need a new opener, how to replace single parts, troubleshoot, etc. If you want it to last as long as possible, get a door tech to do it.

Common DIY mishaps to avoid:
Mounting the opener too high and too level.
Connecting the J arm too low on the door.

Which opener is best for commercial doors?

Light duty gives you a basic door opener. It’s like a residential opener + extra strength reinforcement.

Gear head operators for rolling steel doors. Jackshaft motors are best suited to high lift or full vertical doors.
